Niou Masaharu never aspired to anything deemed "good" before going to Rikkai Daigaku Fuzoku. After learning in kindergarten that sticking sand in his classmate's sneakers, hiding their coats and throwing plastic toy screwdrivers at them was thrilling, little Masaharu became quite the indifferent individual. He found that the only things he liked were the things he could manipulate; numbers, darts, people. When he wasn't trying to throw spitballs over at the girl who sat in front of his dumb elementary class, he zipped through both his schoolwork and homework within fifteen minutes. He always rubbed this fact into the face of the boy on his left everyday. He was a megane-dork anyways with a stuck-up attitude. Niou didn't understand him. When he wasn't earning skinned knees, he was at home in his room with a dart in his hand, trying his best to ignore the fighting outside. Had there been a picture of his father in the middle of the dartboard, it would've been unrecognizable by the end of the night. People were his favorite. Niou read their every habit, quirk and expression like a book.

Yagyuu Hiroshi is one of his closest and best friends from his own world. They went to the same daycares, schools and even play on the same tennis team. They are usually seen as complete opposites at a first glance. Yagyuu is the Gentleman and Niou is the Trickster. On the courts, they're known to trick their opponents into traps. Through their undefeated streak in doubles, they earn the right to be called the Platinum Pair. One of their memorable matches took place during the Regional Tournament where they dressed up as one another. Their facade was near perfect had Niou mastered Yagyuu's Laser Beam technique. The tennis court is the place to see their similiarities in personality, play styles and looks. Before their arrival at Infinity, the two had a close, intimate relationship. It was more physical than anything, given that neither regarded their feelings.

Niou has a lot of respect for his captain, Yukimura. He was one of the major inspirations when Niou was barely shaping his tennis skills as a first-year. To this day, he acts as a driving motivation despite the fact that Niou still cannot get a ball past Yukimura's defense. While Niou is carefree and devious, he still worked hard to keep his promise to Yukimura when he was suffering from Guillain Barre Syndrome before Nationals.
Niou likes to tease Yanagi about his Data Tennis. He claims to be a better mathematician when he has the chance. Because it's true. >3
In preschool, Sanada Genichirou was Niou's primary target when it came to teasing and pulling pranks. The most satisfaction Niou has ever gotten from a prank was when he hid Sanada's shoes in a different cubby. It sent Sanada into a frenzy of panicked tears. However, in middle school, Sanada has become one of those people Niou doesn't want to cross unless he's fully prepared for a bitchslap of doom. Karma blows.
Niou fucking hates this bitch.
Tezuka was Niou's second successful illusion. He does use the illusion against Fuji Syuusuke during Nationals and locks down almost all of his counters. Unfortunately, Niou's illusion had its flaws and he was unable to take the last game with the Zero Shiki Drop Shot. How Niou found the time to study and imitate Seigaku's captain is a mystery. Methinks a steamy bout of sexual intercouse.
Shiraishi was Niou's third illusion, used when he was in a pinch against Fuji. It still wasn't enough to seal Fuji's last counter. Thanks a lot, Bible.
