Let me tell you a Ghost Story:

Rei has been struggling with the recent death of her fiancé, Yuu Aso, who died as the result of a car accident that was all Rei's fault. Blaming herself for his death, Rei slowly shuts herself away from the outside world, only leaving her house on photography assignments, and soon starts refusing to take pictures of people and only takes pictures of landscapes and architecture.

While on assignment of photographing the ruins of a supposedly haunted house, Rei catches a glimpse of a familiar face around the corner. To her surprise, it's her fiance- who should be dead. Rei chases after him, only to realize no one is there.

That evening back at home, Rei dreams of a mansion covered in the snow. Turns out it's the Manor of Sleep, haunted by a vengeful priestess. If she touches you- you're cursed; and Rei just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. On her way to escaping, Reika touches her back, and Rei wakes with a start, only to find that a tattoo of sorts has started on her shoulder, visible in the first few moments of waking, but invisible until she dreams again.

Every night, Rei sleeps for longer and longer, and every morning she's so exhausted she can hardly stand. And each day the tattoo grows and grows- when it finally covers every inch of her flesh, she'll die and be stuck in the Manor forever. Working together with her assistant, Miku, who's also trapped in the manor, the two of them are running out of time to break the curse and are starting to lose hope.

Miku soon goes into a coma- tohught to be dead by Rei. Kei Amakura, a friend of Yuu, arrives to talk to Rei and help her with her investigation. However, not even a day after he arrives, he too, is killed- Rei was left all alone.

She went to bed, and thorugh her knightmare as usual, but when she'd woken up, she'd found herself in a Nexus- Fende Farm. Though details aren't important, she found that her curse was slowed down considerably while she was in any Nexus. She could now go a whole month without her Mansion nightmares, though it didn't stop her usual ones about the accident.

She also met, and fell in love with Jeremiah Gottwald. The two have arrived at Infinity together, and are also currenlty living together.

When Pain, Guilt, and Despair Covers Every Inch of the Body....

Rei is cursed, that much has been disclosed already. So far, it's advanced to the point that only the left side of her face is not covered by it. The tattoo, when she summons it up, covers all of the right half- and has even entered her right eye.

When summoned, her right eye isn't filled in yet. But when she looks at you, you'll notice her right eye truning a dark blue, and a shape that looks like it's moving around in her eye. A blue snake moves around her eye, before turning as if looking out at you- it opens its mouth, bares its fangs, and makes a striking motion.

If you haven't run away yet... If you've looked again, her right eye is now smooth, and glass-like; Her eye's become a mirror. If you look, you'll see your reflection of course- but what you see is not yourself. Her eye reflects your very soul.

Don't look too closely, or you might lose your mind to her.

If The Priestess wakes from her dream...

Since Rei is left completely backround-less, I get to make this part up, while keeping with Fatal Frame's tradition of giving their heroines horrible backgrounds! This'll just be told in bullets to save space. And because I'm lazy.

* Rei's father was an abusive man, but her mother, a completely dependent woman, refused to leave him. They lived in an apartment building at the time, and when it appeared that Rei's father had left the family, her mother threw herself from fro mthe top of the stairwell. At the same time she was going down, Rei was going up, having just returned from school. As soon as she entered the stairwell, she heard her mother's screams echoing around.  A split second later, she saw and heard the body crunch into the ground. Rei blacked out moments later and woke in the hospital.

* From then one she was convinced she was cursed- it seemed that everyone she loved or got really close to, ended up dying. Her mother, a few of her cousins, her aunt, etc. Finally, once she graduated college, she moved out on her own and started cutting herself off, refusing to get closed to people, convinced that anyone who did would die.

* Her uncle tried to molest/rape her when she was about 13. Luckily, the man only got as far as scaring Rei witless before her aunt stepped in and saved her. It bothered her for a long while, but she's since come to terms with it.

* Yuu, refusing to be discouraged, eventually wormed her way into Rei's heart. Rei was, obviously, scared and apprehensive at first, afraid that if she started caring too much, he'd die. Eventually they fell in love and Rei let him in, thinking that her curse must've been broken. She started opening up more and became more friendly, gaining a lot of fast friends. After a year or two, Yuu proposed and Rei happily said yes. They soon-after got their own house and moved in together.

* Of course, a few years later, Yuu died in the car accident while Rei was behind the wheel. Rei escaped almost completely unharmed.

Why did I Survive...?

A list of fears:

-Strong dislike of apartments and stairwells

-Deathly afraid of heights/falling

-Afraid more FOR people, because she's still a little worried that anyone she cares too much for will die. This includes Jeremiah as well.

-She can't drive a car now for the life of her. If she gets behind the wheel, she freezes up and has a panic attack. If she's even in the passanger's seat, she shakes and curls up into a ball, squeezing her eyes shut and clamping her hands over her ears until they've arrived at their destination. Then you can't get her out of the car faster.

-If a car ride takes too long, she WILL start crying.

You're Cursed Too!

Jeremiah Gottwald:  She met him when she first arrived to Fende Farm, and she mended his ripped coat. She showed him that beauty could be found everywhere, and that his mechanic half wasn't as disgusting as he thought. In turn, he helped her to find a reason to live, and to not give up hope. The two fell in love, and have been together since.

Rei worries about him a lot, especially that he'll end up dying and leaving her. She thinks about it far too often, but has been trying to keep it out of her mind lately. She loves him a lot and wishes to have a child with him someday, but lately she's concerned that she wouldn't be a good mother, and that their child would suffer or die. Thankfully, she has Jeremiah there to help her and guide her.

He's recently revealed that he has a geass cancelor to her, and Rei's starting to feel guilty about it- she's still keeping the advancement of her tattoos a secret from him.

Lloyd Asplund: Rei's not quite sure how the two of them met- she's sure it was when she became a child during one of Fende Farm's events. Whatever the circumstances, she became quickly attacthed to Lloyd. She thinks of him as a very good friend- probably one of her best- and, as such, is protective of him.

 She has a tendency to mother him, worrying about his health and if he's eating right. She won't hesitate to throw herself in harm's way to save or protect him, but she won't back down from getting information, a confession, etc. from him if she thinks she's in the right, or deserves to know. More or less, she thinks of Lloyd as her little brother, despite him being older then her.

She's also decided to become his assistant/apprentice, regardless of if he really wants it or not. ;;
